on most directories you won't really get traffic from them...not unless you can get your site listed on the homepage or on the top of a popular category.

that said, you can get some good traffic and related traffic to your site from directories, you just need to make sure that they are a quality directory.

Directories really are good for just getting your site out there into as many people's faces as you can.
Directories, like forums are always being crawled by bots....so using a good directory can help with your sites search engine ranking and strengthen it's key words....thus helping you get more traffic...

i don't think submitting a site in a directory would improve traffic. In case someone searches a particular category and the description and the tags are most relevant then the visitor may visit your site. But this % of visitors is very very small.

the benefits of submitting to directories are two fold ..firstly each directory listing can bring traffic -when a web browsing the directoty sees your listing and clicks it ,you get a visitor ,secondly and most importantly ,since serch engine take links into account when ranking sites in their result, each link in a directory will help contribute to improving your search engine rankings.

Submitting to directories almost never bring any considerable amounts of traffic unless the directory operates in a regional/niche/business directory type manner and has great SERP. Don't expect to get thousands of clicks a day simple because you obtained a link, even with a directory like BOTW, DMOZ, etc.

[threadjack]FALSEALARM hehehe hello [/threadjack]

as I've mentioned directories really won't help much with traffic, but they can help with indexing and search engine ranking by helping to improve your keywords and phrases.....and because of possibly helping to get your site listed higher up on search engines, you could gain traffic from this....but not really because of the directory.
