What thing are required to improve my directory? - Webmaster Desk Forum

I have a premium or paid web directory called Linksbucket. It is a PR3 site, but the problem is that I have very less backlinks to my site.

While keeping this in mind, I have placed the link to my site on ALL forums I have joined, in a few days my backlinks will increase, but is it the only thing to improve my site?

Can you suggest me something to make my site more good?

How you are managing this directory? Is that site is based on static HTML pages?

Your all title's are same as homepage, you need to generate individual titles for every single pages to gain SEO benefit.

To increase backlinks, be smart. Don't use same anchor text for every links. Make a set of keyword for your directory and use them for link building.

Yes, I am not using any script, all the pages are static/simple HTML pages.

I put this anchor text on forum signatures "Unique Website Directory" or "Premium Website Directory" Is this not correct?

They are fine, you need to use random anchor text when you are putting a link. For example at DP, you can use "Business Directory" for your link and for another link use another anchor text

One more question

I want to know what things you/submitters check before submitting sites in paid directories?

Do you check backlinks?

Do you check number of indexed pages?

Do you check site pagerank?

Do you check alexa ranking?

Once I will know what things are considered before submitting sites, I can focus on those points

I have submitted my sites in many paid directories, I did not check backlinks, indexed pages when I submit.

At this time submitter will check those point IMO but those are not applicable for directories at this situation while Google trying to shutting down this industry!

Most of quality directories loosing indexed pages from G, no PageRank at all and blah blah blah...

By the way, alexa is not a fair ranking system, it's shouldn't be counted.

Submitter should check only content and quality of a directory, nothing else.

Yes, I think quality should be achieved NOT PR and other things. If quality is there the rank will automatically increase.

I am now going to add more categories there just like other directories, and also going to add ARTICLES page where I will write my own articles on different topics (informative & good for other webmasters)
