How can you tell if a site is SEO friendly or not? Do you have to use a tool? or you can tell just by looking at it? (lol, this sounds silly!)

You know if your site is SEO friendly if it appears in the top websites on your targetted search engine (usually google).

Yes, you should use a tool. I have used IBP in the past. It's not a free tool but it does a good job. BTW optimizing a website is not a fun job.

Yes you can tell that a website has been optimized just by looking at it. Here are some quick rules:
- A keyword will usually appear in the webpage title, url, body text.
- Usually the text is not too long and very targetted.

Here's an example for my website (I own torrentomega.com):
If you search for Book torrents, movie torrents or game torrents on google you should find my website in the top 10. If you look at those pages you will see they are very specific and make use of Mod Rewrite to create some nice urls.

Any other questions?

My sites are seo friendly. Make the pages of your site end with .htm .html instead of index.php?q=33 and put meta tags and meta description on all your pages to make your website search engine friendly.

Sometimes I wonder just how important seo urls are.
I have a site that did not have seo urls turned on, and it got more pagerank on internal pages that one that had seo urls.

honestly i don't think it really matters....
i mean i've seen a lot a lot of forums that have pr on threads and they're not seo friendly

it's more or less just a preferance....i think it looks better but as far as the google cares....a page is a page is a page...otherwise then why would it not recognize that domain.tld and domain.tld/index.tld are the same thing....

One thing you can gauge a site is SEO friendly is that if you happened to get there via their SERP ranking
