Default 'The truth about Phpld' Directory Drama

Hehehehe

I thought this was real funny.

It seems that people arguing in this thread are from the inside of the Phpld organization.

A few things struck me from this article

Quote:
phpLD has a history of making unkept promises. Support was promised (For a fee), and was never delivered successfully. Fixes were promised that were never delivered,

Quote:
phpLD has a history of getting such great reviews at places like DP, Hotscripts, and Sitepoint. The truth is that he sends out regular PMs to those of use he felt he could trust, and ask that we go and write good commentary feedback on those sites. I have numerous PMs from David with a link to some place like hotscripts, and a note from him stating "Hey, will you go write something about how great phpLD is here?"
Here's the full read if anybody is interested

lol, that does not matter. We (phpLD user) still getting a lot feature than others script. And anybody will be agree that phpLD is #1.

Script is user friendly for link submitter and for the site admin too

Oh, yes. Don't forget that we are not paying $750 for that script, we paid only $75!

Actually that's great.

We don't use phpld or any out of the box script for our directories.

We develop our own software and are sort of immune to the script wars going on.

Alot of people have testified that Esyndicat offers the most features, again, you guys would know more.

Jani here I think he uses that phplynx thing and says I don't have to worry bout any mods.

Another professional directory script which I stumbled across is www.edirectory.com

I guess it all gives more option to the person who is in the market for scripts.

seems i've been having troubles all day connecting to DP
i'd really like to read this thread

as a phpLD staff member I'm a bit well annoyed!
I have a very limited knowledge about programming I was offered the moderation position just because I'm there everyday and try to help people out.

I wouldn't moderate on a site that I didn't feel was worth my time and effort...David is a very nice and generous guy...I would take wise to getting to know someone first before slandering their name!
As for the offered support bit...many people about 90% mistake Supporters for Support! The supporters forum is not a "paid support forum" it is a forum for those members that paid a supporting fee to phpLD

though yes i don't agree with that the supporters forum is also the v3 forum, but I can understand why it is. Though I still think it would be better to have 2 forums, 1 for v3 that is not open to public view except to those that have paid for v3 and then one for supporters of phpLD, this would help to clear most of this confusion up!

and as for people inside the phpLD org well...without being able to read the thread i can not make any statements...though i can think of one person who might be posting there.

And as for David pming people, yes he's asked me before to blog about his templates...so what?!?
wouldn't any good webmaster ask people to write reviews and good points about their site?

Sorry Shabu for cross-moderating lol but ya know i'd stand up for you in other forums as well oh wait i do at phpLD don't i

Yes, it's a good script but you should check their pricing too:
http://www.edirectory.com/directory_pricing.php

As a template designer, I have tested 80% directory script! I know which is the best!

Also, I had a hobby to test script before, played with a lot script. You can't imagine that

Yes, he asked people for write reviews for phpLD but in another side he writing reviews for good templates, good MOD's what you have made for phpLD. Does not look it's equal??

My most of templates have been promoted by him, I will do anything if David asked me!

Well alot of people don't mind paying a premium for extra quality. Serious site owners IMO won't have any problems coming out with some extra cash to get something more versatile.

Ok so is this sort of a 'scratch my back & I'll scratch your back' kind of deal? I mean have you ever read over the review guidelines of sites which post them and considered that something like this could be against their policies.

IMO reputable sites which want reviews, want them to be honest and natural, as opposed to being pre-meditated.

Yes, sure people do. When they are talking a lot about $10 fee for forum access

Kind of, but I don't care what it is. I know what I am getting what I am giving

And for policies, that will be that site's matter, not mine and anything for phpLD user.

Regardless to post, "The truth about Phpld" thread over a popular forum (dp). That does not help anybody. Yes, it helps him/her when someone wanted to release a new script on the market
