Default Traffic promotion is more important than content!

I think that traffic promotion is more important than the contents in one website. Don't get me wrong. I am not saying that content is not important but if you think that you can just sit back after you have produced great contents in your site, you will going to be very disappointed. No one will ever discovered the great content in your site if you didn't do some promotion for your site.

Do you think that the big companies in the world would simply spend millions of dollars on advertising if they don't really work?

I would strongly disagree... Your content is what makes all the difference... That is if you are selling an actual product or service. If the site is MFA then it really doesn't make much difference.

though traffic is improtant, if you don't have good content what is to keep them on your site to poke around deeper and what is to keep them coming back to your site?

yes traffic is good, however repeat customers are better

What is more important than nearly anything else is building a user base, and that leads to traffic, and so much more. Growth only comes as a result of doing well with what you have been given, so it follows that doing well with the traffic receive is somewhat dependent on having content they will like when they arrive at your site.

Unless you have an MFA type of website traffic isn't any good unless it produces results and conversions.

We transitioned our website to WordPress this year and started promoting the blog on social media sites. We had a 5 fold increase in traffic, but not one lead. The traffic that converts for us, finds us on Google, now that's my kinda traffic.

I have seen that social media traffic rarely converts to sales leads. Best traffic is adwords traffic and search engine traffic.

It's mot a matter of what is more important... It is about finding the perfect balance. You must have great content and then promote that content well.

The advertising that many of the big companies do is completely different than the little guy. Do you think McDonalds really cares if you go to their website? They are advertising a brand, the same way that they advertise on TV.

I'm not saying that traffic isn't important, but I think content is the most important. The content needs to come first. With SEO, content will lead to traffic.

Having done a whole lot of marketing over the years, I would have to disagree that McDonald's doesn't care. I see them promote their website quit often. It all about branding for them.
